This lovely natural edge black walnut wood bowl is mostly light colored sapwood with a hint of darker heartwood in the bottom. This bowl is from a local tree that was removed to put in a driveway. Some of it was already cut into firewood but I bought it all. This bowl doesn’t look like firewood to me! Food safe, natural, oil finish.
