This small wooden ring dish is made of lignum vitae. The wood was given to me in the early 1970’s by an NC sculptor. I’ve had it for 50 years waiting for the right project. Lignum vitae is one of the hardest and heaviest woods on earth. The high oil content in the wood makes it very rot and wear resistant. It was used to seal the propeller shaft on ships. It’s also very beautiful! Food safe, natural, oil finish.
