Wild cherry wood bowl with deep pink, orange, copper and brown coloration. This small bowl was from a big tree and is all heartwood hence the darker color. It has an undercut rim and a small raised foot. Food safe, natural, oil finish.
I really like working with cherry because the wood is close grained and turns well but mostly because it takes such a nice sheen. It feels good in your hands.
Black Cherry develops a rich reddish-brown patina as it ages. This aging process can be accelerated by exposing the wood (in a judicious manner) to direct sunlight. If you like the original color, keep it out of direct sunlight.
