#1851-2 Curly Spalted Silver Maple Wooden Bowl 14 1/2" x 4 1/4" Maple Fruit Bowl. Maple Salad Bowl

This spalted silver maple wood bowl has curly grain, gorgeous color and some bud scars. The spalting on this spalted curly maple wooden salad bowl is spectacular with deep black transition lines. The color on this maple salad bowl ranges from cream to pink to copper to gray and black. It is beautifully suited for salad but it would make a fantastic maple fruit bowl. This wooden bowl would hold it's own in a lighted display cabinet.

This bowl was cored from a very large block of silver maple. I lifted the block with an engine hoist to mount it on the lathe. The freshly cut log section had so much water in it that it sprayed on the ceiling and dripped back down on me when I was coring it. I cored three bowls from that large block of silver maple. This was the middle bowl (#1851-2).

This wood salad bowl has a tapered, undercut rim and a raised foot.

Serves 6-8. Food safe, natural, oil finish.
